Customer Service Operative / Maintenance Technician / Handyman – Yorkshire

If so at Harron Homes we are looking for a skilled and proactive Customer Service Operative to join our team in our Yorkshire region. This is a fantastic opportunity for a multi‑skilled tradesperson to deliver high‑quality maintenance and remediation work in our customers' homes, ensuring a professional, right‑first‑time service.

Role Purpose

As a Customer Service Operative, you'll be responsible for completing planned and reactive maintenance in occupied properties, including carpentry, plaster patching, decorating, and other general multi‑trade tasks. You'll ensure all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and with the customer at the heart of everything you do.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake agreed remediation and maintenance works to the highest standard.
  • Provide a proactive, customer‑focused service.
  • Communicate effectively with customers regarding issues and updates.
  • Collaborate with the Customer Service Team to report recurring issues and complete inspections.
  • Source and manage materials efficiently to ensure work is completed on time.
  • Maintain vehicles, tools, and stock to support reliable service delivery.
  • Adhere to Harron Homes' Health & Safety policies and site regulations.
  • Work independently, take initiative and contribute knowledge to the wider team.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Experience
  • Qualified in a relevant trade or multi‑trade, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in multi‑trade maintenance, customer service or housebuilding.
Skills & Knowledge
  • Strong multi‑trade experience and knowledge of building standards.
  • Ability to rectify defects and problem‑solve effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, technical).
  • Competent in planning, time management and diary organisation.
  • Understanding of build and NHBC standards.

  • Personable, dependable, trustworthy.
  • Clean and tidy worker with respect for customers’ homes.

Salary & Location

Salary: £13.22‑£13.83 per hour (£27,498‑£28,766 per year). Location: Yorkshire (Chaldon, Surrey). Contract: Full‑time, Permanent. Hours: 40 per week (hours to be agreed with line manager).
