Job description

Job title: HGV Technician
Location: Fradley
Salary: up to 50,000 DOE

Recruit Central are currently looking for a HGV Technician to join our Client's operation due to their rapid growth and increase in demand for labour hours.

Main duties of an HGV Technician:

  • Perform routine maintenance and servicing on HGVs
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults
  • Inspect vehicle systems including brakes, engines, and suspensions
  • Use diagnostic tools and software to identify issues
  • Prepare vehicles for MOT tests and ensure compliance with safety standards
  • Maintain accurate service records
  • Follow all health and safety regulations in the workshop
  • Keep tools and equipment clean, calibrated, and in good condition
  • Assist with ordering parts and liaising with suppliers
  • Support and guide junior mechanics or apprentices (when applicable)

Requirements for HGV Technician Role:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar HGV mechanic/technician role
  • City and Guilds Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on HGVs
  • Ability to use diagnostic tools and follow technical manuals
  • Good understanding of DVSA standards and MOT preparation requirements
  • Full UK driving licence (HGV Class 1 or 2 is preferred)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Flexibility to work shifts or overtime if required
  • Basic IT skills for logging repairs
