Job Title: HGV Technician

Location: Doncaster

Workchain is currently seeking an experienced HGV Technician for our client in Doncaster, DN5, on a permanent basis.

Are you an experienced HGV Technician looking to develop your career? The workshop team forms an integral part of our clients business and the team is responsible for effectively maintaining commercial vehicles and trailers to DVSA standards.

This role is being recruited for on a permanent basis working an average of 48 hours per week.

Key responsibilities
  • Diagnose and rectify all types of faults, working on your own initiative, ensuring cost effective and safe repairs to an extremely high standard.
  • Attend and repair disabled vehicles at customer sites.
  • Ensure that all vehicles worked on are handled carefully and that precautions are taken whilst in the workshop and customer premises.
  • Ensure that Health and Safety regulations and the company safe systems of work and processes are adhered to at all times.
  • Ensure all jobs are recorded properly, appropriately and accurately recording times, ensuring all job cards and service sheets are actioned in the agreed timescales.
  • Complete work as directed by the Foreman, Workshop Manager or General Manager at any time.
  • Inspect, report, repair and service trailers, vehicles and factory transport.
  • Inspect and conduct pre MOT checks to DVSA / VOSA standards.
Candidate experience
  • Full UK Driving Licence including HGV Class C+E licence is essential.
  • Hold an industry recognised qualification, either City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3.
  • Have previous HGV mechanical experience.
  • Good knowledge of H&S practices.
  • Excellent mechanical diagnostic skills.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Effectively manage time and meet deadlines.
  • Be able to work well individually and as part of a team.
Shift schedule

Week 1 (Early shift) Monday to Thursday, 6.00am to 4.00pm, Friday 6.00am to 2.00pm.

Week 2 (Late shift) Monday to Thursday, 12.00pm to 10.00pm, Friday 12.00pm to 8.00pm.

Overtime is also available.

The starting salary is £45,900kpa depending on experience, with excellent company benefits.
