Role: HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic
Location: Ivybridge, PL21 9PE
Hours: 45 hours per week | between 07:30 and 17:00 Monday to Friday
Salary: between £43,564.68 - £44,082.01 pa DOE

Are you a skilled technician with a passion for vehicle maintenance and a commitment to high standards? We’re looking for a proactive and detail‑oriented HGV Technician to join our Aftermarket team!

This hands‑on HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic role involves maintaining and repairing refuse collection vehicles to the highest standards, ensuring safety, compliance, and customer satisfaction every step of the way.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on chassis and mounted equipment
  • Service vehicles to VOSA standards and prepare them for MOT inspections
  • Complete body and chassis repairs and ensure compliance with Department of Transport specifications
  • Maintain accurate records and enter job details into company systems
  • Liaise professionally with customers and work independently at customer sites
  • Ensure all work is completed efficiently and to company standards
  • Follow health and safety procedures and conduct risk assessments where required
  • Undertake training to enhance technical skills and knowledge
Ideal Candidate
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance
  • Proven experience in commercial vehicle repair and servicing
  • Strong diagnostic and fault‑finding skills
  • Understanding of electronics, hydraulics, and wiring diagrams
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including overtime
  • Experience with electric vehicles, IRTEC qualification, or HGV Class 2 licence is a bonus
