Job description
HGV Mechanic needed in Bradford, £23.48ph (PAYE – Reference: BD1)

This is a Full time role on a temporary contract basis.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake the maintenance and repair, to a range of vehicles and machines and plant equipment, to the required quality standards, in an efficient and cost effective manner.
  1. Undertake planned service and safety inspections of vehicles and equipment.
  2. Diagnose faults, recommend and undertake cost effective repairs
  3. Repair of vehicles/equipment as instructed.
  4. Carry out auto electrical repairs.
  5. Order spares at stores.
  6. Maintain a clean and tidy work area.
  7. Attend breakdowns and undertake vehicle / equipment recoveries.
  8. Occasionally collect spare parts from Suppliers.
  9. Manoeuvre vehicles as required.
  10. Complete time sheets, job sheets, service sheets and inspection reports in line with Policy, ‘O’ licence compliance and good practice.
  11. In exception undertake steam cleaning of vehicles prior to repairs including DOE/MOT preparation.
  12. Take vehicles to specialist repairers.
  13. Take vehicles to MOT and DOE test stations, rectify minor failure items (following approval / on site).
  14. Repair tools and equipment within the workplace.
  15. Carry out welding fabrication and repairs (gas, electric, mig).
  16. Liaise with Vehicle Workshop Team Leader(s) and Management where necessary.
  17. Diagnose vehicle defects to aid colleagues and categorise repairs.
  18. Undertake all tasks with due diligence to the best of your ability and be accountable for your repairs.
  19. Undertake other reasonable duties (with competence and experience) as requested in accordance with the changing needs of the organisation.
