Job description
Overview

Our client is a leading national supplier of technologically advanced plant hire machinery, supporting the construction, rail, major project, and energy industries. Due to continued growth, they are now looking for a Mobile & Workshop Service Engineer - Exeter to join our Southwest field service team. This position is for a well-established company who believe in putting time into their employees to further their career with training and qualifications.

Responsibilities
  • Based primarily at the Exeter depot, you will be responsible for servicing and maintaining a wide range of construction and earthmoving equipment.
  • Carry out routine servicing of construction equipment in line with manufacturer schedules and specifications.
  • Monitor and top up lubricants and fluids as required.
  • Perform preventative maintenance checks and ensure equipment is operating safely.
  • Identify, report, and escalate faults promptly.
  • Clean, inspect, and prepare machinery for redeployment or transfer.
  • Fit and replace parts when necessary to keep equipment in optimal condition.
  • Work collaboratively with team members on larger repair and maintenance tasks.
  • Support the digital division with the installation of GPS systems, human-form recognition cameras, height and slew restrictors, and other innovative technologies as the role evolves (full training provided).
Requirements
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with a practical, hands-on approach.

  • Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and driven to deliver high standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong time management with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Confident in using initiative to solve problems and support team objectives.
  • Experience of heavy plant and construction equipment and hydraulic systems
  • Experience of construction routine maintenance to a required level and standard
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in plant maintenance would be beneficial but not essential.
Salary & Benefits
  • £17.00-£18.50 an hour dependant on experience.
  • 42.55-hour week
