Job summary

A prominent food company in Westhoughton seeks a Health and Safety Coordinator to assist the Deputy Health and Safety Manager. Responsibilities include monitoring onsite safety performance, managing action plans, and supporting investigations of incidents. The ideal candidate should possess strong administrative skills and experience in Health and Safety, with a preference for those holding or pursuing a NEBOSH General Certificate. This permanent role operates Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:00.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor Health and Safety performance on site.
  • Manage and review Site Action Plans and communicate them.
  • Assist in investigations of accidents and ensure documentation is complete.
  • Complete H&S inspections and assist with Fire Evacuation Tests.
  • Review and update risk assessments as necessary.

Job description

We have a fantastic opportunity that has become available for a Health and Safety Coordinator.

The role is permanent working Monday to Friday 08.30 – 17.00.

As Health and Safety Co-ordinator you will be responsible for providing assistance and support to the Deputy Health and Safety Manager in completion of administration / site-based duties.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor the performance of Health and Safety on site, assisting with the completion of weekly and monthly reports
  • Manage, review and communicate the Site Action Plans
  • Manage, review and communicate near misses and hazard trackers each week.
  • Support departments during the investigation of accidents & near misses that occur on site, ensuring all documentation is complete and systems are accurately kept updated
  • Complete the Freiberger Report for absence and lost time.
  • Produce posters and update site noticeboards.
  • Review and update First Aider requirements.
  • Assist with the completion and administration of site H&S inspections.
  • Assist with the completion and administration of Fire Evacuation Tests.
  • Assist with the completion and review risk assessments, PUWER assessments & COSHH assessments
  • Provide support in projects / new buildings / new machinery programmes as required.
  • Raise purchase orders and place orders with suppliers for any required equipment.
  • Assist with Health & Safety strategic projects.
  • Support the site with internal monthly H&S meetings.
  • Support the implementation of the company’s H&S policies and procedures.
  • To look at continually improving existing systems and procedures.
  • To perform any task that is of a reasonable request to support the Health and Safety department.
Qualifications

The role requires strong administrative skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.

Applicants with or working towards NEBOSH General Certificate would be preferred.

Experience within a Health and Safety role is essential.
