Overview

We have a great opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate Healthcare Assistant to join our children\'s team in CDC nursing. You will work with friendly and experienced staff committed to delivering a high standard of care to babies, children, young people (BCYP) and their families in Barking & Dagenham. Working across the medical teams to support children attending the Child & Family Centre for various appointments.

You will be caring and compassionate, possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and be adaptable to the needs of BCYP with additional needs that attend the centre.

Responsibilities
  • As a Healthcare Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting babies, children, young people, parents and carers that attend the Child & Family Centre, acting as the first point of contact for their appointments and providing essential information.
  • Adapt your communication and interpersonal skills to the children and families you see.
  • With BCYP, complete essential measurements that support appointments including weight, height, head circumference and blood pressure where appropriate.
  • Be trained to complete ECG recordings when needed.
  • Work across the medical teams and CDC nursing to support children with special educational needs and disabilities, with opportunities to grow and develop and learn about different provisions within Children\'s services. Highlight concerns from a service and safeguarding perspective.
  • Be welcoming to children and families at arrival to the Child & Family Centre and ensure clinics run timely; communicate delays when appropriate and ensure clinical rooms are stocked and meet Trust infection control policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times and seek advice if safeguarding concerns arise.
Training, Induction and Development

Starting with NELFT, new starters are welcomed and inducted into the Trust with a comprehensive induction process including mandatory and systems training, equipment allocation and opportunities to meet the executive team and senior managers. Induction is held at the head office in Rainham, Essex.

Employment Details
  • Probationary Period: This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period unless they are currently part way through a probationary period or are currently a bank member of staff.
  • High Cost Area Supplement (London): This post attracts a supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum £4,551 and maximum £5,735 per annum pro rata).
  • Supporting Our Communities: We prioritise applications from local residents and are committed to working with local communities to ensure our workforce reflects the people we serve.
  • Visa sponsorship: Please note that we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this post.
  • Role location and teams: The post holders will work across the children\'s medical teams including Paediatrics and CAMHS psychiatrists.
