A leading healthcare provider in the UK is seeking a dedicated healthcare support worker to assist in the recovery ward and catheter lab within the Cardiac Diagnostic Centre. Job description

The post-holder will carry out assigned tasks involving direct care in support of and supervised by a Registered Nurse on the recovery ward and catheter lab in the Cardiac Diagnostic Centre. The role provides patient-centred care, supports clinical procedures and works as part of the multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities
  • Support clinical procedures, protocols and guidelines to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Collaborate with the MDT team, delegated by the Nurse in Charge.
  • Maintain high standards of nursing care and a positive patient experience before, during and after procedures.
  • Record vital signs, blood glucose and other monitoring data.
  • Assist with ward cleanliness, clinical waste and sharps disposal.
  • Document patient records accurately in written and electronic formats.
  • Use equipment within the own department under direction of the nurse in charge.
  • Answer telephone, take messages and refer to the nurse in charge.
  • Unpack and check stores, undertake cleaning and correct storage of equipment.
  • Communicate compassionately, maintain confidentiality and use empathetic techniques.
  • Observe, assess and respond to personal care needs, escalating concerns as required.
  • Deliver personal care duties and support activities of daily living (mouth care, hygiene, toileting).
  • Manoeuvre patient equipment such as hoists and wheelchairs safely.
  • Undertake delegated procedures under supervision of a registered healthcare practitioner.
  • Support patient feeding, diet and nutrition intake, report changes to nursing staff.
  • Manage patient property and monitor supplies for the department.
  • Contribute to the learning environment for new starters.
  • Maintain a safe, healthy working environment and act in the best interest of individuals.
  • Work in partnership with families, carers and the wider healthcare team.
  • Maintain and develop skills and knowledge through learning activities and appraisal participation.
  • Participate in team handovers.
