Job description
Overview

Health and Safety Training Instructor | Tilbury | £50,000 + Additional Benefits

Are you confident delivering health and safety training in both the classroom and on-site, covering practical areas such as working at height, lifting operations and hazard identification?

Can you bring the credibility to work with plant instructors, operational teams, and senior leaders, while keeping training grounded and practical?

Would you enjoy a hands-on role in a busy port environment, where no two days are the same and collaboration across a large site is key?

If these questions strike a chord, you may be interested in this Health and Safety Training Instructor position, working at the leading port operation on the River Thames. This site sits as a piece to a much larger organisation with a multitude of ports across the United Kingdom. As such, this role is pivotal for not only coordinating alignment with the wider Health and Safety culture of the business, but also in building knowledge across a dynamic 600-strong workforce and collaborating with the Learning and Development Team.

Responsibilities
  • Design, update and deliver Health and Safety training, both in the classroom, on-site and virtually. This includes knowledge around plant equipment, lifting operations, working at height, hazard identification and investigations.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance, ensuring that training meets internal standards, regulatory requirements and accreditation bodies (e.g. ITSAR).
  • Coach, mentor and support operational, instructor and senior leadership teams so that safety best practice is understood and applied across the port estate.

The successful Health and Safety Training Instructor will have:

  • A strong background in Health and Safety, ideally supported by a NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent).
  • Experience delivering training in both classroom and practical, operational settings across a busy site. A Level 3 qualification in Education and Training is a bonus.
  • Confidence to work with plant instructors, operational teams, and senior leaders, adapting and being flexible in style to suit the audience.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel around a large site (and occasionally to other ports in the group).
What does the Health and Safety Training Instructor offer you?
  • A competitive salary of £50,000 with annual review, and the opportunity to gain further accreditations and professional development.
  • Discretionary group bonus scheme, 29 days annual leave, a defined pension scheme and life assurance.
  • A key part within the state-of-the-art Logistics Skill Academy, health promotion events, wellbeing initiatives and access to the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) for you and your family.

This is a pivotal role for a confident, hands-on professional who can work autonomously, lead by example, and establish structure and accountability from day one. A valid UK driver's license is essential. For more information on this opportunity or to discuss your next career move, contact Ben Francis on +44 (0)1923 963 611 or apply here.
