Job summary

A leading principal contractor in Exeter is looking for a Health and Safety Manager to lead health and safety initiatives on major construction projects. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in a similar role within construction, exhibit strong leadership skills, and promote a positive health and safety culture. This position offers a competitive salary of circa £65,000 along with car allowance or company car, and all travel costs covered.

Health and Safety Manager – Exeter

Salary: Circa £65,000 + Car Allowance or Car + Travel

Irwin and Colton have been engaged to recruit a Health and Safety Manager for a leading principal contractor. This organisation delivers some of the largest and most complex construction projects in the UK, and this role will take a key position on a major development.

It's an excellent opportunity for an experienced health and safety professional who can provide confident leadership on site, work effectively as part of the senior team, and champion best practice across the project.

Travel to the site is fully paid, and accommodation is provided if required.

Responsibilities
  • Leading, advising and coaching contractors to ensure they can achieve the efficient and effective delivery of the health and safety strategy
  • Conducting incident investigations to identify the root cause and make recommendations to prevent recurrence
  • Auditing and reporting on health and safety performance
  • Working with the site team, constantly assessing opportunities for health and safety improvements and sharing best practice across the organisation
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within construction or civil engineering or a related industry
  • Hold NEBOSH General or Construction (NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent desirable)
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with a wide range of people
  • Drive and enthusiasm with the ability to promote a positive Health and Safety culture
