The University has an exciting opportunity for a Health and Safety Manager to join their growing, ambitious and diverse University, named the Times University of the Year for Social Inclusion 2026.

The post of Health and Safety Manager sits within the University's Human Resources Department. The post holder will be responsible for managing the Universitys Health and Safety management systems and promoting safe working practices. They will develop and maintain health and safety standards; provide advice and guidance regarding compliance with relevant statutory requirements, legislation and regulations, and promote best practice in accordance with sector and professional standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Policy development
  • Performing health and safety audits
  • Supporting investigations
  • Reviewing and undertaking risk assessments and DSEs where appropriate
  • Leading or participating in working groups for the delivery of specific health, safety and wellbeing projects
  • Preparing and presenting Health & Safety reports
  • Designing and delivering effective health and safety and related training, including staff health & safety inductions
Qualifications
  • Chartered member of IOSH or equivalent body
  • NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (minimum)
  • Experience of UK health and safety best practice and legislation along with relevant practical experience in managing health and safety in the workplace
  • Previous experience in Higher Education considered advantageous but not essential
