What DHU Can Offer You

Working Patterns: We recognise that 9-5 doesn't work for everyone, so we have a range of working patterns available to suit your work/life balance. Our friendly talent team will work with you to find the best fixed pattern for us both.

Part Time – 30/24/20 hours per week, Availability window 4pm to 12am.

Comprehensive Training

Successful candidates will undergo four weeks of full‑time training, led by a team of dedicated trainers followed by three weeks of supported practice. You’ll be trained on NHS Pathways systems, a recognisable licence that you’ll receive on completion of training. Further details will be provided during the interview process. Note: No medical background is required.

Competitive Salary
  • Training and daytime shifts: £12.31 per hour
  • Evenings and night shifts: £16.00 per hour
  • Weekend shifts: £17.84 per hour

Generous annual leave entitlement: Standard 25 days + 8 bank holidays, increasing with service up to 33 days + 8 bank holidays.

What Your Typical Day Looks Like
  • Serving as the initial contact for the public regarding urgent healthcare concerns.
  • Assessing patients using NHS Pathways to direct them to the most suitable care.
  • Effectively managing instructions and inquiries from surgery staff, clinicians and external agencies following up with appropriate actions and responses.
  • Impactfully contributing to patients' well‑being.
  • Offering general comfort and being a source of solace.
To be a successful Health Advisor you'll need:
  • Motivation, passion, positivity, resilience and determination to provide outstanding patient care.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills, supported by IT and keyboard skills.
  • A desire to engage with the public at their time of need coupled with a strong telephone manner.
  • The capability to perform efficiently and accurately under pressure, whilst maintaining a compassionate and professional demeanour.
