Location: Aldwark Manor Estate, Aldwark Nr. Alne, York YO61 1UF

Hours of work: Minimum 3 days per week, including Thursday, Friday, and Saturday

Aldwark Manor Estate is a privately owned Hotel with Golf nestled in a picturesque village between York and Harrogate. Set in 200 acres of beautiful countryside this luxury Hotel provides a complete escape for both business and leisure guests and is a popular venue for weddings.

Over the last few years the Hotel has undergone major renovations in the bedrooms, restaurant, residents lounge, sports bar and all public areas. This year we will start our new and opulent spa and state‑of‑the‑art leisure areas as well as our new meeting rooms and additional 17 bedrooms. The leisure facilities opening later this year with the new spa bedrooms and meeting space opening 2026.

Chartwell is our recent addition to the Aldwark Manor Estate. An intimate 3‑rosette level fine dining addition to the 36‑cover restaurant we have Clementines wine tasting room with 2 Enomatic wine preservation units offering 16 wines by the glass and a secret lounge The Other Room with a fantastic array of single malts, cognacs and champagne. As Head Waiter of Chartwell you will be at the front of service and your team will deliver an impeccable service from the initial booking through to the post‑dining follow‑up with full knowledge of every dish, classic cocktails, drinks, wine and the service standards to deliver and attain a minimum of 3 rosettes.

Main duties and purpose of the role

• Work with the Chartwell Manager in running the 36‑cover restaurant and Clementines wine tasting room.
• Describe each dish in our menus confidently.
• Support with training and develop all team members who work ad‑hoc in Chartwell restaurant to 3‑rosette level standard with wine training.
• Proactively promote Chartwell.
• Support with creating and developing the brand standards to keep moving the business forward, making it a destination for the residential and non‑residential clientele.
• Ensure standards of procedure are in place and followed by everyone who works in Chartwell.
• Ensure all relevant legislation, compliance and procedures in employment law, health and safety, food safety, liquor licensing are followed by all the team at all times.
• Deliver the experience of fine dining consistently to our guests.
