A Scottish local authority is seeking a school leader to manage the affairs of Harlaw Academy in Aberdeen. The role involves ensuring the delivery of quality education through effective collaboration with pupils, staff, and the community. Candidates must hold full GTC registration in Scotland and demonstrate experience in senior leadership roles. This is a permanent, full-time position.
Job Purpose/role: To lead and manage the affairs of the school enabling the delivery of quality education through the appropriate involvement of the pupils, staff, parents, multi- disciplinary agencies and the communities it serves. This will be done in accordance with the authority’s strategic plan, the school’s/service’s improvement/service plans, the national improvement framework drivers and outcomes, in accordance with current legislation and within national and local agreements.

The Council will require PVG membership for relevant roles. From 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be responsible for the cost if the full time equivalent salary is £30,000 and above. For teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above (currently £31,505 per annum / £17.31 per hour), the PVG cost is initially paid by the Council and then deducted from the first full month’s salary.
