An inclusive secondary academy in Gloucester is seeking a Head of Year to join their Pastoral Team. Salary: NGC Point 14 -25 (£26,648 - £32,803 pro rata)
Contract type: Permanent, 37 hours per week, 41 weeks per year (term time plus inset plus 2 weeks) (0.9021 FTE). Starting salary is dependent on experience. Flexible arrangement for additional working weeks.
School: Severn Vale School – an Academy providing inclusive secondary education for students aged 11‑16 with strong outcomes through high quality teaching and outstanding pastoral care. The school is a popular and over‑subscribed single academy trust with 1,350 students.
Role: We require a Head of Year to join our Pastoral Team. The role involves providing pastoral care and monitoring behaviour, attendance and well‑being of a specific year group. It focuses on helping students overcome barriers to improve attainment, progress, conduct and personal development, enabling them to fulfil their potential as a learner and as an individual.
You will work closely with the school community, including the Senior Leadership Team, Attendance, Safeguarding and Inclusion Teams, forging strong links with students, their families and external agencies. You will commit to "going the extra mile" to provide the best support. We want someone with high expectations who loves working with young people and ambitions them to achieve. You should be a resilient team player with a can‑do attitude, flexible, organised, able to use initiative and problem‑solve. Experience working in schools is an advantage but not a requirement.
