We are looking for a passionate and highly-driven Head of Sustainability to join our vibrant Corporate Affairs department based in our Head Office in Tolworth.

With the pace of Lidl Great Britain's growth continuing, our Corporate Affairs department is getting busier by the day. This role provides a brilliant opportunity for someone to combine their passion for retail with a strong desire to drive our Sustainability goals forward.

Leading the Sustainability team and reporting into the Head of Corporate Affairs, you will develop and deliver Lidl GB's Sustainability strategy nationwide. You will be responsible for the communication between Lidl GB CSR and the international CSR department, as well as representing the company's interests for wider stakeholders in the market, including NGOs and industry partners.

What you'll do

• Implement the sustainability strategy across the business and determine targets and commitments.
• Oversee the management of CSR KPIs and data of supplier performance.
• Provide CSR related counsel to the Board including the provision of performance updates, risks/opportunities and market developments.
• Empower the business to support and advocate positive change through proactive engagement. Fostering both the culture and mechanisms to enable colleagues to identify and activate performance improvement.
• Identify and develop key sustainability programmes to deliver against business goals and commitments.
• Act as a figure head for sustainability across the business embedding positive culture and best practice and externally with key CSR stakeholders.
• Represent Lidl GB on sustainability positions at external events.
• Oversea the delivery of sustainability related communication both internal and external
• Lead and chair the strategic CSR steering committee; defining key objectives, prioritised action and Board engagement.

What you'll need

• Strong leadership skills with experience in building high performing and professional teams.
• Strategic thinker that has the company strategy at the heart of all decisions they make.
• Experience managing multiple projects concurrently, within tight deadlines.
• The confidence and ability to come up with new ideas and present new strategies to seniors within the business.
• Flexibility to meet changing deadlines and managing the consequences of these changes.
• Strong computer skills, including Word, Power point and Excel.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to persuade and convince others.
• Excellent communication skills and able to deliver the relevant detail effectively and understandably.
• Flexible to travel throughout the UK and internationally.
• German language skills would be advantageous
