Compensation: £78,250 - £88,250 / year

Overview

Stockton Hall is looking to recruit a head of psychology to join the team of 7 wards, providing care for up to 88 male and female patients. This is a full-time 37.5 hours role. Priory Stockton Hall is a long-serving medium secure hospital based in a quiet but well-connected village near the historic city of York. It serves the local Provider Collaborative and multiple National Collaboratives, depending on clinical need, and has had a long-running record of successful patient pathways.

What you'll be doing

You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients’ wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. As a head of psychology, you will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.

  • Work with clients with complex needs relevant to the service area.
  • Develop and deliver formulation-led care and be competent in a range of therapeutic delivery.
  • Deliver oversight of supervision and run reflective practice groups, with an understanding of the service model.
  • Demonstrate effective consultancy skills and manage clinical/organisational projects; have competence in line management and service-related standards including clinical governance.
  • Be strategic in leadership and relationships with senior managers and senior clinicians across the site.
What you'll bring to the role

Our work is rewarding but can be challenging, so resilience is key. You will have natural empathy to support others through highs and lows. The role requires a confident grasp of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and at least two other therapeutic modalities, including training in an intervention suitable for disorders relevant to the location. Candidates should understand and apply therapy principles, with willingness to undertake further training if needed. Experience working with complex clients at operational and strategic levels is essential, along with delivering high-level interventions. Training in clinical supervision is required.

Experience should include an understanding and application of therapy principles and the ability to undertake further training as needed.
