Overview

Our busy Electrical Contractor in the Cookstown area require a Head of Procurement to join their growing team.

They are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Head of Procurement to lead the procurement strategy and operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction procurement, excellent negotiation skills, and a proven track record of managing supplier relationships effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with company goals.
  • Lead the procurement team in sourcing, vendor selection, and contract negotiation.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Monitor supplier performance and conduct regular evaluations to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement initiatives to optimize procurement processes.
  • Manage budgets related to procurement activities, ensuring financial targets are met.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other departments to understand project requirements and timelines.
  • Collaborate with finance teams to ensure materials are invoiced to correct projects and cost codes for reporting.
  • Working with other members of the Group’s procurement teams to streamline buying.
  • Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, pricing, and new suppliers.
  • Assess and mitigate risks associated with procurement activities.
  • Mentor and develop the procurement team, providing training and support to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team culture.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in procurement, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and equipment.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools, along with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to grow, we would like this role grow into Head of Group Procurement.
