A prominent cultural venue in Scotland is seeking an ambitious Head of Music to provide artistic leadership. The role involves programming and delivering diverse music, managing bookings, contracts, and budgets, while collaborating with various departments. Perth Theatre and Concert Hall is seeking an ambitious, commercially astute Head of Music to provide artistic leadership for its programme at a pivotal moment in the organisation's development.
This senior role will play a key part in shaping the organisation's artistic profile, audience reach and financial sustainability. It is responsible for programming and delivering music across both venues, curating a high-quality, balanced and diverse offer spanning classical, contemporary and trad, plus comedy and light entertainment.
Reporting to the Director, the Head of Music will oversee the annual programme in line with agreed artistic and commercial goals. Their remit includes artist and event bookings, contract negotiation, budget management and the cultivation of productive partnerships at local, national and international levels.
The postholder will collaborate closely with colleagues across Development, Learning & Engagement, Marketing, Operations and Technical to ensure the smooth delivery of all programming. They will also act as a senior representative for the organisation, maintaining strong professional relationships with artists, agents, promoters, broadcasters and sector partners, while supporting commitments to inclusion, accessibility and environmental responsibility.
The successful candidate will bring extensive programming experience across multiple genres, a strong understanding of the UK and international music landscape, and a proven ability to deliver artistically ambitious and financially successful programmes. They will demonstrate sound commercial judgement, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.
