About the role

Reporting into the Record-to-report Tower Lead, within Finance Digital Operations the Head of Finance - RTR (Retail and Cost) is a high-profile and commercially-facing role. You will play a key role in ensuring accurate month end close process across Retail (sales and costs) and Inventory across several entities in The Boots Group. The role provides a fantastic opportunity to lead a large and diverse team and gain exposure to senior stakeholders across the business, along with leading key business initiatives and delivering transformation in line with the RTR Strategic Roadmap.

Key responsibilities
  • Leading a timely and accurate month end close for Commercial, Marketing and Inventory ensuring SOX control requirements are met.
  • Leadership and professional development of a team of 4 (2 managers, 2 senior analysts)
  • Leading and driving the extended offshore Record to Report (RTR) team, including management of service delivery through regular governance sessions, providing ad hoc support and guidance and supporting consolidation of activities across Boots and No7.
  • Collaborating with the other towers within Finance Digital Operations (PTP, OTC, Master Data and Finance Development) to ensure strong governance and swift issue resolution across end-to-end processes as well as continuous improvement.
  • Working cross functionally with Commercial/Marketing, Tax, No7 to resolve issues, improve processes and compliance and find efficiencies from '3 into 1' ways of working and process optimisation.

What you'll need to have
  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) with experience of working at a senior level or with senior stakeholders in Finance
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cross functionally
  • Confident managing competing priorities for the team
  • A strong leader with strong relationships with a range of stakeholders at all levels across the business
  • Ability to inspire and motivate a large blended onshore and offshore team to deliver results
  • Experience leading a team to diagnose, isolate and resolve complex issues including implementing required process changes and controls
  • Experience analysing and reporting data to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions
  • Knowledge and experience of US GAAP, IFRS and a SOX control environment an advantage
