Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is recruiting for the Head of Assets to lead a multidisciplinary asset management function in social housing. This temporary role offers a day rate of £500 and requires recent experience in a similar position.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in asset management strategy development and delivery within social housing.
  • Strong understanding of building construction, project management, adaptations, and contract negotiations.
  • Experience managing budgets, cash flow, and long‑term forecasts.
  • Leadership experience managing multi‑disciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, particularly CDM Regulations 2015.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership across all asset-related functions.
  • Manage budgets and ensure high standards of delivery.
  • Oversee the development of a long-term Asset Management Strategy.
  • Deliver capital programmes and liaise with stakeholders.
  • Manage energy and environmental programmes, including incentive schemes.

  • Present strategic plans to senior management and boards.

Job description

James Andrews are proud to be partnering with a forward-thinking Housing Association on the recruitment of their Head of Assets ; designed to lead and manage a multidisciplinary asset management, environmental, energy, capital investment, and home improvement function.

This will be a temporary post initially, paid at a day rate of £500.

Duties will include (but are not limited to) :

You’ll provide strategic leadership across all asset-related functions, acting as the client for the repair service, managing budgets, and ensuring high standards of delivery across social housing portfolios. This includes oversight of :

  • Development and implementation of a long-term Asset Management Strategy
  • Delivery of capital programmes and adaptation works, liaising with internal and external stakeholders
  • Management of energy and environmental programmes, including billing and incentive schemes
  • Fire risk and safety compliance across communal spaces
  • Performance management of repairs, voids, and disrepair services
  • Presentation of strategic plans and recommendations to senior management and boards
Skills, knowledge and expertise required :
  • Proven experience in asset management strategy development and delivery within social housing
  • Strong understanding of building construction, project management, adaptations, and contract negotiations
  • Experience managing budgets, cash flow, and long‑term forecasts
  • Leadership experience managing multi‑disciplinary teams
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, particularly CDM Regulations 2015
  • Relevant professional or housing qualification (Level 4 or above)
