Job summary

Halfords Autocentre Congleton is recruiting an Apprentice Auto Technician to gain hands-on experience while working toward a recognised GTG Training qualification. You will learn from skilled technicians, inspect and service vehicles, and develop diagnostic skills in a busy Autocentre environment.

With a structured GTG training plan, you’ll progress through Level 2 Autocare and related modules, benefit from a supportive mentor network, and start building a long-term career in automotive services.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) at grade 5 or above.
• Willingness to learn and build a career in the motor industry.
• Interest in hands-on vehicle work and diagnostics.

Responsibilities

• Learn to inspect, service, diagnose and repair a range of vehicles.
• Work with experienced technicians and mentors at the aut centre.
• Gain exposure to diagnostics, safety practices and modern technologies.
• Commit to completing GTG training programme.

About The Role

Based in our Congleton Autocentre, you'll work alongside experienced technicians, learning how to inspect, service, maintain, diagnose and repair a wide range of vehicles. No two days are the same, with exposure to modern technologies, diagnostics and complex vehicle repairs.

We're looking for enthusiastic individuals with strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and a genuine interest in building a career in the motor industry.

Working Hours

• 5-day working week
• 40 hours (under 18s) / 44 hours (18+)
• Autocentre opening hours: 8:00am to 6:00pm

Training & Qualifications

You’ll work towards:

• Level 2 Autocare

Training includes workplace safety, vehicle servicing, maintenance, diagnostics, repairs and electrical systems, supported by dedicated GTG and Halfords mentors.

Qualifications

Entry Requirements

• GCSE Level 5 or above or equivalent in Maths and English (or equivalent)
