Job summary

Halfords Autocentre Fort William is seeking an Apprentice Auto Technician to gain hands-on experience while working towards a recognised qualification with GTG Training.

You'll work at the Fort William Autocentre, learning inspection, servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repair across a range of vehicles, with mentoring from GTG and Halfords professionals. We value problem-solving, teamwork and a keen interest in automotive careers.

Qualifications

• Working towards recognised qualifications with GTG Training.
• National 4 Maths, English and a Science/Technical subject or equivalent.
• SCQF Level 5 LVMR with potential progression to SCQF Level 7.

Responsibilities

• Based in Fort William Autocentre, learn to inspect, service, maintain, diagnose and repair a wide range of vehicles.
• Work alongside experienced technicians with exposure to diagnostics and modern technologies.
• Develop problem-solving, teamwork and customer-focused skills while training.

About The Role

Based in our Fort William Autocentre, you'll work alongside experienced technicians, learning how to inspect, service, maintain, diagnose and repair a wide range of vehicles. No two days are the same, with exposure to modern technologies, diagnostics and complex vehicle repairs.

We're looking for enthusiastic individuals with strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a genuine interest in building a career in the motor industry.

Working Hours

• 5-day working week
• 40 hours (under 18s) / 44 hours (18+)
• Autocentre opening hours: 8:00am to 6:00pm

Training & Qualifications

You’ll work towards:

• SCQF Level 5 Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
• Opportunity to progress to SCQF Level 7 after two years

Training includes workplace safety, vehicle servicing, maintenance, diagnostics, repairs and electrical systems, supported by dedicated GTG and Halfords mentors.

Entry Requirements

• National 4 (or above) in Maths, English and a Science or Technical subject (or equivalent)
