A leading renewable energy consultancy is seeking an experienced Grid Engineer for a 12-month contract with possible extension. You will manage grid connections, ensuring engineering excellence and compliance with quality standards across renewable projects. The ideal candidate has extensive experience, a degree in Electrical Engineering, and strong problem-solving skills. The role is remote with travel across the North East and Scotland, offering a daily rate of £550-£650 depending on experience.

Grid Engineer (Contract - 12 Months, Possible Extension)

£550-£650/day (Umbrella) | Remote | UK Travel (North East & Scotland)

We're looking for an experienced Grid Engineer to support a growing portfolio of renewable energy projects across the UK. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, autonomy, and being at the centre of technical delivery. You'll play a key part in steering projects through the grid connection process and ensuring engineering excellence from early development through to operation.

🔧 What You'll Be Doing
  • Lead and manage the grid connection process across multiple renewable energy projects.
  • Oversee liabilities, securities, contractors and consultants, ensuring delivery is aligned with project timelines.
  • Produce and coordinate technical documentation, scopes of work, specifications, and commercial inputs.
  • Review and respond to technical, legal and commercial queries linked to grid offers and project delivery.
  • Represent the business in discussions with NGESO, DNOs, and industry stakeholders, staying on top of evolving grid requirements.
  • Ensure all grid-related activities meet strict Health & Safety and quality standards.
  • Support root-cause analysis, technical decision-making and urgent engineering challenges.
  • Drive continuous improvement across internal standards, procedures and engineering governance.
  • Collaborate closely with internal engineering, project delivery, and commercial teams to keep projects moving forward.
