Graduate Operations Support Engineer - Temporary Maternity Cover | Engineering Industry | Workshop – Alloa
Responsibilities
- Provide overall support to the Works Manager on all activities with a specific focus on rotating equipment such as submersible motors and centrifugal pumps.
- Serve as a key link between the Works Manager and Workshop, working closely with Workshop Supervision, Quality and Health & Safety to ensure the integrity of overhauls and daily operations within the quoted lead-time and customer specifications.
- Assist in implementing lean principles for processes and products.
- Liaise daily with the Works Manager to improve customer satisfaction, support profitable growth, and expand the submersible motor and pump customer base.

Skills and Education Required
- Understanding of rotating machinery from a mechanical perspective (electrical knowledge advantageous)
- Degree qualification in an associated Engineering discipline
- Understanding of repair methods and operations of engineering equipment
- Knowledge of quality systems and standards
- Knowledge of engineering and technology principles and practices
- Fluent in MS packages such as Excel, Word and Project
Objectives of the Role
- Provide best-in-class, customer-focused service in a timely and efficient manner
- Manage and update workshop documentation, adopting lessons learnt for continual improvement
- Assist in managing and coordinating workload to meet business/client requirements
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships through regular communication with internal peers and support functions
- Focus on customer satisfaction within the service industry workshop, achieving on-time delivery, working within budgeted hours and required quality
- Assist Project Engineers to implement feedback from workshop and drive continual improvement
- Work with Works Manager and Technical Support to analyse equipment failures using recognized techniques (e.g., FMEA, RCM, RCA)
- Develop operating practices and procedures supporting overhaul processes and future developments; participate in continuous improvement projects
- Collaborate with workshop and field service teams to report, analyse and develop improvements on contract performance
- Actively support and promote the company’s Health, Safety, Environmental, Quality (HSEQ) policies and procedures
