JOB - Graduate Mechanical Engineer

LOCATION - Southampton

TERM - Permanent

SALARY - £25,000 - £30,000 per annum, dependent on experience

My client designs and manufactures bespoke plastic products. They are looking for a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Southampton on a permanent basis.

Qualifications & Attributes
  • Degree BSc / BEng qualification in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • 0‑2 years or more industry experience
  • Strong hands‑on skills with machinery and production
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software – ideally SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD etc.
  • Ability to carry out mechanical calculations
  • Can work well individually as well as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Keenness to develop with the company long term
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office
Responsibilities
  • Work within the current engineering team with other Engineers
  • See through projects from concept through to completion
  • Work in the R&D team
  • Be hands on with machinery and CNC programming
  • Use CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings
  • Create component and assembly models to satisfy customer requirements
  • Liaise with manufacturing providers
  • Produce the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plans
  • Update 3D models and drawings
  • Input parts into the MRP system creating BOMs
  • Check drawings for sign‑off
  • Work in a small multi‑disciplinary team on varied projects
