Graduate Design Engineer, Building Services - Get into Sustainable Design

Location: Exeter - Flexible Working

Starting Salary: up to £30k

We are seeking a Graduate Electrical Engineer, Graduate Mechanical Engineer, or Building Services Design / Consultancy / Sustainability / Building Services / Energy / Integrated Engineering professional to join a leading independent sustainability and engineering consultancy specializing in sustainable building designs.

This role offers excellent progression and support to become a member of professional bodies such as CIBSE, IET, IMechE, or EI, with the goal of achieving chartered engineer status.

Role and Responsibilities
  1. Building services engineering design, including mechanical and electrical engineering and building physics.
  2. Collaborating with senior design engineers to develop your mechanical and electrical design skills.
  3. Advising clients on reducing energy use through engineering design and specifications.
  4. Working with design teams including architects, structural engineers, quantity surveyors, and specialist consultants.
  5. Providing advice on building services aspects of BREEAM and the Code for Sustainable Homes.
  6. Conducting computer thermal modeling of buildings to assess energy use.
  7. Visiting construction sites to inspect building services installations.
  8. Advising on building-integrated renewable energy solutions.
Experience and Qualifications
  • Degree-level education in any engineering discipline such as physics, mechanical, electrical, building services, or environmental engineering.
  • An understanding of sustainability, renewable energy technologies, thermodynamics, and energy systems is essential.
  • Interest in the built environment with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new situations and contribute actively as a team member.
  • A full driving license is desirable.
