Overview

The Job- Graduate Applications Engineer

The Company: One of the UK’s leading manufacturers of Gearboxes, Geared Motors, Servos and Drives. A global leading manufacture with a multi-billion turnover. Full product training, career progression opportunities in commercial or technical roles.

Role and Responsibilities

• Be a touch point for colleagues on mechanical queries (torque, power, speed, inertia, etc.).
• Involve design-related tasks on Solid Works, customer relations, product selection, pricing drive systems, quotes, organising logistics and transport, and chasing overdue products from Germany.
• Support the external sales team with technical knowledge on tougher projects.
• Work on Industrial Gearboxes (Planetary, Bevil, Helical, etc.) and some Geared Motors.
• Engage with End Users, OEMs and distributors in sectors such as Metal, Mining, Conveying, Quarrying, Water Treatment, Hoisting, and F&B.
• Internally based role; may involve occasional customer visits (joint with sales) or taking measurements on site.

Ideal Candidate

• Must have a degree—ideally 2:1—in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering. If someone has been on the tools and self-sponsored through an HNC/HND, they may also be considered.
• Be very strong mechanically; understand aspects of product selection and design (note: this is not a design engineering role, but there will be some design to do from time to time).
• Experience with Solid Works is a benefit; if not, must be happy to learn and undertake a course.
• Must understand torque, power, speed, and inertia.
• Open to straight graduates or graduates with experience in Customer Service, Project Management, Project Engineering, Design Engineering, Applications Engineering, Sales, etc.
• Knowledge of Gearboxes, Motors, Mechanical Power Transmission is a bonus but not required.
• Happy with relocation.
• Extrovert, open-minded, mouldable, driven to progress, sense of humour, confident.
