Job description

Ariel Healthcare is a dynamic and innovative practice basedin the South Somerset Countryside town of Chard. Chard has a small-town feeland close-knit community. We are on theborder of both Devon and Dorset, on the edge of the Blackdown Hills, just offthe A303 trunk road to London and benefit from good transport links to Tauntonand Yeovil. The UNESCO World HeritageJurassic Coast, Exmoor and the Somerset Levels are all only half an hoursdrive away, allowing for plenty of lifestyle and downtime opportunities.

Due to retirement, we are keen to find the right person tofurther enhance our GP team. We focus onthe quality of the care we provide to our patients and encourage continuity ofcare throughout our patient population.We have named GP lists, aiming for the small practice feel but with thebenefits of a large practice team for support.With urgent care being separately managed, routine surgeries can bespent focusing on the quality and continuity of patient care.

2 sites within walking distance and plans for a new build surgery within the next couple of years. The only practice in Chard.

Main duties of the job

A dynamic and forward thinking GP to join our close andfriendly team. You will be a list holding GP with a focus on routine clinical care spending 1 or 2 sessions a week (pro-rata) in our Urgent Care hub alongside another GP and the associated clinicians. With an admin session (pro-rata) a week to give you time to manage clincial workflow.

This could either be in a salaried role for those who wishit or with the possibility of partnership for those who are seeking more of aleadership role. All offers would beinitially for a salaried post. For thosewanting more of a leadership role, there would be 6 months salaried mutualassessment prior to consideration of partnership but there would be parity fromthe start of partnership.

We hold monthly GP meetings for all our GPs, partners andsalaried. This is where the day to daydecisions are made with regards how GP matters are run. For those who wish it however, the partnershold fortnightly meetings to decide strategic matters and the forward planningof the practice as a whole.

PCN working we collaborate closely with our local PCN toenhance patient care while maintaining our practice ethos. We are an active participant in all PCNmatters

Active LMC participant and currently the PCN lead forLMC representation

Good ICB relationship we are lucky that we have a positiveand supportive working relationship with Somerset ICB

Active staff social activities including a SouthWest walking group team, Book club, Rounders and Skittles team

Work closely with our local community we have hosted thelocal schools friendship posters and the camera club photos and are alwayslooking to engage with our community

We have quarterly protected half day closures for the wholepractice where everyone can get together and training is organised

Job responsibilities
  • Perform the delivery of highly effective medical care to the registered population, with a focus on continuity of care, patient choice and condition management in accordance with best practice clinical and prescribing guidelines.
  • Integrate as part of the GP and wider workforce team to deliver quality care and protect the interests of individuals.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and support patients to access specialist services through timely and accurate referrals.
  • Engage in the planning and delivery of continuous improvement activity.
  • Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, contributing towards a safe and inclusive culture.
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures set by the practice.
Person Specification
Qualifications
  • GMC Registered not subject to suspension
  • MRCGP or equivalent
  • Currently on the performers list
  • Clear enhanced DBS check
  • Evidence of CPD and up to date mandatory training
  • Interest in career development and progression with a commitment to lifelong learning.
  • Willingness to take a lead role in either research, prescribing, teaching and training or clinical quality.
Experience
  • Experience of working in UK General Practice
  • Ability to work in a team in an MDT environment
