Job description

Ready to make an impact? Why not consider joining us as a GP Assistant within Mid Sussex Division of Modality Partnership.

If you are career driven, passionate about improving patient care, and want a role where you can combine clinical support, administration, and innovation, we want to hear from you. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of Primary Care, supporting General Practitioners and helping shape how services are delivered across the division.

Apply now and join a team that lives by our CARE values: Commitment, Accountability, Respect and Excellence.

We are looking for a GP Assistant to join our teams at Crawley Down Health Centre and Judges Close Surgery working full time. This is far more than a traditional administrative role. You will be a key member of the clinical team, supporting GPs with both administrative and basic clinical duties to maximise consultation time, improve access to appointments, and enhance the patient experience.

This role is suited to individuals who enjoy working in an agile, fast-paced environment, are solution-focused, and are motivated to make meaningful, sustainable improvements to Primary Care services.

  • Minimum 27 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays (pro rata)
  • Employee discounts and benefits scheme
  • Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
  • Education and career development pathways
  • Enhanced family-friendly policies
  • Flexible working options
Main duties of the job

This is a hands-on, patient-focused role supporting General Practitioners in the day-to-day management of patients. The primary aim of the role is to reduce GP administrative burden, improve efficiency, and support timely access to care.

The GP Assistant role is not a standard 9-5 position and is not purely back-office based. It requires flexibility, innovation, and the ability to work resourcefully as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting GPs during and around consultations by undertaking administrative and agreed clinical tasks
  • Managing and processing clinical documentation, results, and correspondence
  • Supporting access to appointments and patient flow within the practice
  • Working collaboratively across the division to deliver innovative ways of working
  • Contributing to service improvement and operational efficiency
  • Maintaining professional boundaries and escalating concerns appropriately

You will need initiative, adaptability, and a strong commitment to high-quality patient care. In return, you will gain a diverse portfolio of clinical, operational, and development skills within a supportive and forward-thinking organisation.

About us

Our Mid Sussex practices are part of Modality Partnership, one of the UKs largest GP super-partnerships, serving over 450,000 patients with a workforce of more than 1,500 staff. We continuously innovate to improve patient care and staff experience, embracing digital tools and automation to enhance how services are delivered.

We are committed to innovation, service improvement, and developing our people. In this role, you will work directly with multiple practices and key stakeholders to harmonise ways of working, improve patient and staff satisfaction, and support sustainable change within Primary Care.

All employees have access to our employee benefits scheme and NHS pension. We are proud to be an Equal Opportunities Employer, committed to fair treatment in line with the Equality Act 2010.

Job responsibilities

Please refer to the supporting documents for the full Job Description outlining the core responsibilities.

You will thrive in this role if you enjoy learning new skills, working closely with clinical teams, embracing innovation, and contributing to service improvement from the ground up.

If you feel this is the ideal career-advancing opportunity and you are ready to rise to the challenge, we welcome your application to join our growing team.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy at any time during the advertising period.
