Job description

This full time role within the BVCA is great for anyone with an interest in the private capital industry, and the policy landscape affecting the industry. The BVCA has a number of committees and advisory groups which support the BVCA's activities. Your organisational skills and attention to detail will be utilised extensively as you will be responsible for administering committee meetings which encompasses everything from scheduling meetings in diaries, managing committee listings, compiling paperwork and minute taking at these meetings. Alongside this responsibility you will also be able to support the team on additional projects linked to the committees' activities.

You will initially report into the Governance Senior Executive and then also to more senior members of the team (including the BVCA's Assistant Company Secretary, Governance Manager and In-house Lawyer) depending on the projects concerned. You will provide administrative support to the BVCA's Assistant Company Secretary, Governance Manager and In-house Lawyer, as well as the wider Executive Committee and Senior Leadership Team, and assist the events team and office management team when required.

In addition You will be part of a team of assistants who will provide a supportive environment to help you develop an understanding of the BVCA's ways of working.

This role is ideal for someone early in their career or in a similar role seeking to develop a greater understanding of the Corporate Governance function along with an ambition to develop their skills and expertise by working towards a professional qualification in the future.

Responsibilities
  • Organising committee and advisory group meetings and maintaining member contact lists (c. 200 individuals from the industry are involved)
  • Compiling and preparing all committee paperwork by co-ordinating with BVCA team members involved
  • Taking minutes at meetings and following up on action points with BVCA and committee members
  • Assisting in the organisation of any committee related events
  • Answering telephone calls and managing the committees email account and inbox
  • Updating the committees and advisory groups pages on the BVCA's website, and keeping committee lists updated on the CRM system (no prior experience required as training will be given)
  • General administrative, clerical and research support
  • Ad-hoc support to the events team and office management team as necessary
Requirements
  • Excellent academic credentials
  • Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills with a keen attention to detail
  • Interest in Corporate Governance and the its role within an organisation
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office including Outlook, Word, Powerpoint and Excel
  • Previous experience of Minute taking would be a big advantage
Previous Experience In Governance/company Secretarial Support Preferred
  • Professional manner with the ability to deal with stakeholders of all levels of seniority
