Morgan Hunt is currently working with a Professional Regulatory Body in their search for an Interim Governance Manager to provide high-quality secretariat and governance support over a fixed-term period. This is a key delivery-focused role, supporting senior leadership and ensuring the smooth operation of Council governance.

In this role, you will work closely with, and take direction from, the Senior Governance Manager, providing full end-to-end secretariat support for Council meetings. This will include preparing and coordinating board packs, distributing agendas, taking accurate minutes, and tracking and following up on action points. You will play a central role in ensuring meetings are well‑organised, compliant and supported to a consistently high professional standard.

You will work directly with senior stakeholders (including the Chief Executive and Chair of Council), requiring confidence, discretion and the ability to handle sensitive matters professionally. The role sits within a busy central governance team and requires someone who is agile, resilient and comfortable managing changing priorities in a fast‑paced, pressurised environment.

The successful candidate will be an experienced governance or secretariat professional with a strong background in supporting board or council‑level meetings, ideally within a regulatory or membership‑based organisation. You will be highly organised, confident working at senior level, and focused on delivery and accuracy.

Job Title: Governance Manager – Interim

Location: Hybrid – 2 days per week in the London office (Tuesdays plus one other day)

Salary: £44,000 – £48,000 per annum

Contract Type: Fixed‑Term Contract (9–12 months)

Hours: Full‑time (35 hours per week)

Start Date: ASAP

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide full secretariat support for Council meetings, including agendas, board packs, minute taking and action tracking.
  • Work closely with and support the Senior Governance Manager on day‑to‑day governance delivery.
  • Liaise directly with senior stakeholders, including the Chief Executive and Chair of Council.
  • Ensure meetings are accurately documented and follow‑up actions are progressed.
  • Manage sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Support effective governance processes in line with internal standards and best practice.
  • Contribute to a responsive and well‑coordinated central governance function.
Candidate Profile
  • Proven experience providing full secretariat support to Board or Council‑level meetings.
  • Background within a regulatory, membership or similar complex organisation (highly desirable).
  • Confident working with senior stakeholders and handling sensitive issues.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and strong minute‑taking skills.
  • Agile, resilient and able to manage changing demands in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Professional, calm and delivery‑focused in approach.
