Position: German Writer / Sub‑Editor

Key Responsibilities
  • Translate marketing and editorial copy from English into German, preserving Net‑A‑Porter’s authoritative voice.
  • Sub‑edit features: check accuracy, trim copy to fit, proof copy, and verify all pages and links for the website, iPad and iPhone apps.
  • Adapt headlines and sub‑heads to suit German readership and perform sense‑checking across copy.
  • Sub‑edit marketing, editorial, email and general site copy.
  • Sub‑edit special projects as required (e.g., video, printed projects).
  • Collaborate with the translations team to meet all deadlines.
  • Work closely with the site trading team and web production.
  • Cover for the German Chief Sub‑Editor when absent.
  • Gain insight into the German fashion market and typical consumer to continuously improve German content.
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Experience in copywriting or translating within the fashion or a related industry.
  • Fluency in English and German (native level) both written and spoken.
  • Good understanding of InDesign and working knowledge of Photoshop.
  • Good understanding and working knowledge of Figma and TMS Phrase Software.
  • PC and Mac literacy.
  • Some experience of CMS systems is beneficial.
  • Ability to manage a changing workload effectively and meet daily deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to thrive in a busy team.
  • Understanding of the German‑speaking and international fashion and luxury markets.
