Job description
Overview

Pay up to £131,000 per annum FTE depending on experience. Hours: 2 days per week (e.g., Monday and Wednesday or Wednesday and Friday). Location: HMP Foston Hall, a female closed prison based in Derby. HMP Foston Hall houses around 300 patients aged 18–75 years. The role involves delivering general practice clinics to support long-term conditions and acute needs. Applicants must have an interest in female health and competencies in female-specific health needs, including insertion and removal of LARCs.

This position is part-time and salary is up to £131,000 FTE depending on experience.

What you'll be doing

Our General Practitioners are valued and respected members of the Prison Healthcare community. As a General Practitioner, your responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver first-class healthcare to a diverse patient group, with opportunities to develop knowledge in areas beyond a standard practice, including potential exposure to A&E-type scenarios
  • Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis, making timely decisions regarding future management
  • Provide a highly specialist resource to other healthcare team members at the site, with active involvement in clinical governance and effectiveness activities
Qualifications required
  • MBChB or MBBS
  • Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List
  • Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal
  • Experience working as a General Practitioner in community/general practice
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse
  • RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or willingness to undertake these qualifications
