Job Summary
Due to retirement at Measham Medical Unit, we are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and committed Practice Nurse for a 30‑hour per week part‑time role (Wednesday‑Friday). A special interest or qualification in Asthma/COPD management is desirable. Salary will be dependent on experience.

Measham Medical Unit is a well‑established GP practice on the outskirts of North West Leicestershire, serving 15,800 patients across Leicestershire, Staffordshire, Derbyshire and Warwickshire. The clinical team includes 6 GP Partners, salaried GPs, ANPs, ACPs, PAs, clinical pharmacists, practice nurses, HCAs and nurse associates.

Job Responsibilities
Primary Key Responsibilities
- Work independently and accept professional accountability within your scope of practice.
- Assess patient needs and provide evidence‑based care.
- Implement and evaluate chronic disease treatment plans, promote health and well‑being, signpost appropriately.
- Apply infection control measures.
- Provide routine nursing care, conduct clinics, offer lifestyle advice, wound care and medication review.
- Manage patients with long‑term conditions: Diabetes, hypertension, CHD, asthma/COPD, childhood vaccination, hormone injections, adult immunisation, cervical cytology screening.
Secondary Key Responsibilities
- Participate in local initiatives and shared learning.
- Review clinical practice and respond to national policies.
- Review significant and near‑miss events.
- Support implementation of practice policies and protocols.
Communication
- Communicate effectively with patients, families and carers.

Professional Requirements
- Registered General Nurse with the NMC.

- Promote a professional approach in dress and attitude.
Person Specification – Clinical Knowledge & Skills
- Wound care, sutures/removal, ECG, venepuncture, new patient medicals, immunisations (routine, childhood, travel), women’s health, travel medicine.
- Chronic disease management: diabetes, hypertension, CHD, asthma/COPD.
- Knowledge of national standards (QOF, NICE, etc.).
- Understanding of infection prevention, evidence‑based practice and health promotion strategies.
- Record accurate clinical notes; work within own scope and refer appropriately.
Desirable Clinical Knowledge
Qualifications
- Essential: Registered General Nurse.
- Desirable: Updated adult and child immunisation, cervical cytology, accredited qualifications in diabetes care or asthma/COPD.
