About Us

Lancashire Cricket Club was formed in 1864 and is one of eighteen first class counties within the domestic structure of England and Wales. The Club’s home, Emirates Old Trafford, is an award-winning world-class venue which is recognised as one of the UK’s most prestigious and versatile spaces for sport, business, leisure, and entertainment, with the capacity for up to 50,000 concert goers; 26,000 spectators for international cricket and events and meeting spaces that can cater for up to 2,000 attendees. The stadium is home to a 150-bedroom Hilton Garden Inn hotel, which has 85 pitch facing rooms, and an on-site Caffè Nero.

Role Overview

The General Manager will oversee all aspects of the Farington facility’s operations, ensuring exceptional service delivery, programme management, financial performance, and compliance with health and safety standards. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence, managing staff, optimizing resources, and creating a positive environment for players, coaches, members and community and federation partners. The post holder will lead strategic initiatives to enhance the facility’s reputation, usage, operational efficiency and community engagement.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations of the facility, including scheduling, staffing, and resource allocation.
• Ensure all training and community programs, events, and services run smoothly and meet quality standards.
• Implement and monitor operational policies and procedures for efficiency and compliance.
• Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
• Drive revenue growth through working collaboratively with the wider teams for funding, sponsorships, and partnerships.
• Monitor expenditure and ensure cost control measures are in place.
• Recruit, train, and lead the venue support staff.
• Conduct performance reviews and implement KPI’s with third party providers across services.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance culture.
• Ensure exceptional customer service and satisfaction for players, stakeholders and members.
• Develop efficiency and innovation to maximise the ability of usage.
• Act as the primary point of contact for VIP clients, sponsors, and partners as well as the day to day stakeholders and users.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, safeguarding policies, and facility standards.
• Conduct regular audits and risk assessments.
• Maintain emergency procedures and staff training for safety protocols.
• Maintain a maintenance programme aligned to the wider LCCC objectives and regulations.
• Identify opportunities for growth, innovation, and community engagement.
• Work with the wider LCCC teams, to develop marketing strategies and oversee promotional activities.
• Collaborate with the ECB and local stakeholders, to enhance the facility’s profile.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in sports facility management or similar leadership role.
• Strong understanding of sports training operations, health & safety, and compliance standards.
• Proven track record in financial management and business development.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of sports science, coaching principles, and athlete development desirable.
• Understanding of pitch and field of play maintenance.
