General Builder (Carpentry & Heritage Experience)

Start Date: 05/01/2026

We are seeking an experienced General Builder with a strong background in carpentry and heritage restoration to join our client's specialist conservation team. This role involves working on a historic and listed building, carrying out high‑quality restoration and repair works while respecting traditional construction methods.

Role Responsibilities
  • Carry out carpentry and general building works on heritage and listed properties
  • Repair, restore, and replicate traditional timber elements and architectural features
  • Work with hardwoods, softwoods, traditional joints, and hand‑finished details
  • Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and conservation plans
  • Work closely with site management, conservation officers, and other trades
  • Maintain strict adherence to health & safety and heritage preservation standards
Required Experience & Skills
  • Proven experience working on heritage or restoration projects
  • Strong understanding of traditional carpentry techniques and materials
  • Ability to repair or replace timber beams, frames, windows, and bespoke joinery
