A local outdoor education centre in Wales is seeking a General Assistant to perform cleaning and kitchen duties. The role includes maintaining hygiene in all areas and working as part of a team. Candidates must have strong communication skills and a flexible work approach. This is a permanent position with an 18-hour work week and a starting salary of £12,995.

Overview

General Assistant

Pay Grade: 1C Scale Point 6 - 7. Starting annual salary £12,995. Hours per week: 18 (0.5 FTE). Start date: as soon as possible after interview. This post is permanent and will include working some weekends. Lledr Hall Outdoor Education Centre is Salford City Council’s residential Centre located near Betws y Coed. Please note, this is approx. 100 miles away from Salford. We run short stay visits for Primary school children from the city. While with us they participate in adventurous activities in the Snowdonia National Park. We have a vacancy in the domestic staff team for a General Assistant.

Responsibilities
  • Undertaking general cleaning and kitchen duties.
  • Cleaning all areas of the centre to ensure they are kept in a clean & hygienic condition.
  • Undertaking general kitchen duties and dining room activities (e.g. preparation of food, washing up, preparing and cleaning dining areas).
  • Tidying rooms including making beds, changing linen, vacuuming, polishing, and cleaning windows.
  • Cleaning bathroom and toilet areas.
  • Undertaking laundry duties including the operation of washing machine and dryers.
  • Occasionally carry out unpleasant cleaning tasks (e.g. soiled linen, cleaning up vomit etc).

This post is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and appointment to this post will be conditional upon receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The Centre is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children and young people/ vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Please be aware that this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and that you will be required to meet the cost of the DBS check currently £49.50. The payment for this will be deducted from your first four months’ salary payments at a rate of £12.38 per month. If you do not commence employment for any reason but the DBS has been processed, you will be sent an invoice for the payment of £49.50.
