Job description

As a General Assistant, you will deliver a wide range of essential services to the required standards and specifications. You will play an important part in maintaining service quality, supporting clinical areas, and ensuring smooth daily operations.

  • Support the timely delivery of a full range of general assistant services.
  • Patient movement: transporting patients to and from wards as required.
  • Linen duties: delivering clean linen to wards and returning soiled items to the laundry store.
  • Waste management: safe removal, handling and storage of clinical and domestic waste.
  • Specimen handling: receiving, moving and storing blood and other specimens.
  • Cleaning duties: including the use of electrical floor cleaning equipment and steam cleaners, following national cleaning specifications.
  • Grounds maintenance: keeping grounds, paths, car parks and gardens tidy; gritting/salting during adverse weather.
