Job description

• The on-coming officer will arrive in time for a handover from the off-going officer, after first reporting to the Security Control room to log-on for duty
• The controlled movement of all vehicles are to be monitored
• Greet all guests in a welcoming manner, regardless of their attitude towards the security officer. If needed, escape matters to the Security Manager.
• Manage the vehicle entry process for vehicles entering through the Gatehouse
• Any damage’s incurred to the Gatehouse infrastructure and/or fabric or any accidents and incidents should be reported immediately to the Security Control Room and a log should be made in the DOB in Red Pen, with a corresponding statement from the officer as to how the events occurred.

Requirements as a Gatehouse Security Officer

• IT Skills
• Be well organised and have methodical approach
• Demonstrate the ability to think and act quickly in emergencies or under pressure
• Have an ability to deliver succinct and clear verbal and written reports where necessary
• Maintain a high standard of personal presentation
• Demonstrate reliability including the ability to deliver high standards of both punctuality and attendance in order to ensure team effectiveness and availability
• Able to demonstrate an ability to work as part of a team
• Able to deal calmly and confidently with all demands from the staff and stakeholders
• An understanding of the principles of equality and diversity in relation to staff and visitors’ needs
