Overview

Campus Safety Assistant

Full time, 42 hours per week (average). 4x 12 Hour Shifts (4 on 4 off). Grade 3 (£22,595.00 - £23,741.80 pro rata), plus an unsocial hours premium.

Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Estates and Facilities Manager, help ensure a safe and welcoming environment for staff, students, visitors, and contractors.
  • Act as a visible and reassuring presence on campus and represent the University in daily duties.
  • Operate CCTV and door access systems.
  • Provide first aid when required.
  • Carry out administrative tasks such as inputting incident and first aid reports, and managing lost property.
  • Conduct regular patrols of both the campus interior and exterior.
Shift Pattern

Shifts are scheduled 4 x 12-hour shifts over an 8-day period, generally day shifts (06:00–18:00) or night shifts (18:00–06:00).

  • Friendly and approachable individual with strong communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and a high level of empathy and understanding.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure, adapt to changing environments, and mediate challenging situations effectively.
  • Punctuality, reliability, and the ability to work well as part of a team.
