Location: The Grange, Greenview & Kinsley Medical Centres – Closing date: 08 January 2026

We are looking to recruit a motivated team player to join our friendly and supportive team of nurses at The Grange, Greenview and Kinsley Medical Centres.

Full time and part time hours available. Must be prepared to work across our 3 sites.

Main duties of the job

The role would suit either a nurse looking to make the move into Primary care, or a more experienced practice nurse.

  • Experience of conducting diabetic chronic disease reviews as well as cytology is essential.
  • To provide the usual general practice treatment room services – phlebotomy, wound care, vaccination and immunisations, plus chronic disease reviews if/when trained appropriately.
  • Full support will be given, and there is scope to develop your role and undertake further training as per service requirements.

The practice is well supported by excellent reception and administrative staff, a friendly team of GPs and ANPs and close links with community nursing services.

Job responsibilities
  • Take venepuncture of patients for whom a formal written or electronic request form has been issued. Urgent, none routine samples. All non‑urgent requests should be booked through the phlebotomy clinics.
  • Process routine pathology samples using practice pathology authorised equipment and methods.
  • Administer vaccines and medications as per Patient Group Directors and protocols:
    • Childhood
    • HPV
    • Holiday requirements
    • Nebulizer therapy
    • Others authorised by a GP
  • Offer advice on Health Promotion and Health Education:
    • ECG monitoring
    • BP monitoring
    • Healthy lifestyle
    • Physical activity
    • Sexual screening
  • New patient medical assessment.
  • Insurance medical assessments.
  • Driving medical assessments.
  • Elderly patient assessment.
  • Visit clients at home when necessary.
  • Travel clinics.
  • Weight management.
  • Audit.
  • Ear syringing (if competent).
  • ECG recording.
  • Removal of sutures/clips.
  • Assessment and dressing of wounds and their care.
  • Urine analysis / pregnancy tests.
  • Swabs.
  • Administer prescribed injections and medications.
  • Other procedures as directed.
  • Carry out procedures which you are trained and competent to do.
  • Maintain current registration status.
  • Build on professional development and undertake relevant study and training.
  • Maintain evidence of training in personal portfolio.
  • Participate in implementing changes within the practice.
  • Adhere to practice policies and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
