Job Summary
Are you an experienced and compassionate Forensic Psychologist looking to apply your expertise within a highly supportive, forward‑thinking NHS Community Directorate? We are seeking a skilled and motivated Forensic Psychologist to join our developing specialist service in North Lincolnshire. The role is part‑time (2 days per week) and offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced psychological professionals across our community and secondary care pathways.
Main Duties of the Job
- Provide specialist psychological assessment, formulation and intervention for people with complex mental health and forensic needs.
- Offer consultation, advice and supervision to multidisciplinary colleagues, promoting trauma‑informed practice.
- Contribute to service development, evaluation and audit, embedding evidence‑based approaches and high standards of care.
- Participate in risk assessment and management, supporting safe, effective care planning.
- Supervise and develop trainee psychologists.
- Contribute to MDT formulation, reflective practice and staff wellbeing.

About You
- A BPS‑accredited Doctorate in Forensic or Clinical Psychology (or equivalent).
- HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist.
- Experience in forensic or complex mental health settings.
- Skills in formulation, assessment, evidence‑based intervention and risk assessment.
- Experience of multidisciplinary working, supervision and consultation.
- A compassionate, reflective, trauma‑informed approach and a collaborative style.
Qualifications & Knowledge
- Post‑graduate doctoral level training or its equivalent in clinical or forensic psychology as accredited by the BPS.
- Additional short specialist courses with demonstrable impact on practice.
- Clinical supervision training.
- Current HCPC registration.
- Full understanding of relevant policy, legislation, drivers and their application to clinical and service area, e.g. Mental Capacity Act, Social Inclusion.
- Knowledge of and experience in the use of a wide range of psychometric and other objective assessment tools.
- Skills in coordinating programmes of care and providing consultation and specialist advice to other professional and non‑professional groups.
- Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology.
- Basic IT skills.
Desirable
- Post‑doctoral training in one or more specialised areas of psychological practice.
- Leadership or management qualification.
- Advanced or expert understanding of relevant clinical practice, standards and audit.
- Evidence of policy implementation and development.
- Broadly based knowledge of advanced psychological therapies for difficult‑to‑treat groups such as complex PTSD, personality disorder and dual diagnosis.
- Member of a special interest group or network, locally or nationally.
Experience
- Demonstrable experience as a practitioner psychologist, including a significant period at a senior level in the specific field.
- Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to the clinical area.
- Experience with a wide variety of client groups across the life course and all levels of care.
- Experience exercising full clinical responsibility for service users’ psychological care and treatment.
- Experience of teaching, training and professional and clinical supervision.
- Evidence of advanced practice skills and impact on practice change.
- Evidence of promoting support for user/carer involvement and participation.
- Professional networking locally and regionally.
- Ability to effectively chair meetings.
Desirable Experience
- Successful completion of preceptorship.
- Clinical specialisation in the field of the post.
- Proven leadership/management experience with demonstrable impact.
- Ability to work across team and organisational boundaries, creating multi‑professional and multi‑agency partnerships.
- Experience developing others through education, mentorship, coaching, teaching, assessment, presentations and publishing.
- Experience applying psychology in different cultural contexts.
