A government service organization in the UK seeks qualified forensic or clinical psychologists to engage in core forensic work and deliver safety initiatives within women's prisons. The chosen candidates will collaborate on strength-based plans and contribute to improving support for women in custody. The work of the Women's Estate Psychology Service (WEPS) spans core forensic work: completion of complex risk assessments, therapeutic intervention work, consultancy, training & research, and a broad range of safety‑related work within women’s prisons and as women transition back into the community.
The post holder will engage in core forensic work and deliver safety work, a key aspect of the role at any women’s prison. This includes the collaborative development of strengths‑based plans based on psychological formulations designed to support staff in supporting women in custody and through into the community more effectively.
The role of Forensic Psychologists in women’s prisons: this vacancy uses Success Profiles and will assess your behaviours, strengths, experience and technical skills. Feedback will only be provided if you attend an interview or assessment.
Successful candidates must undergo a criminal record check. People working with government assets must complete baseline personnel security standard checks.
Qualified forensic or clinical psychologists with HCPC registration, or candidates in the process of receiving HCPC registration, must provide confirmation of registration within 6 months of provisional offer.
Salary: £52,316. HM Prison & Probation Service contributes £15,155 towards the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.
