Location: New Mills, Derbyshire (SK22)

Salary: Circa £30,000 per annum

Hours: Mon-Thurs 7:30am-4:30pm | Fri 7:30am-11:30am

Job type: Full-time, permanent

About the role

We are looking for a Food Technologist to join our friendly and fast-paced food manufacturing team in New Mills. This hands-on role covers product development, food safety, quality, and process improvement within a multi-site FMCG environment.

You will support projects from concept through to factory trials and scale-up, ensuring products meet food safety, quality, and legal requirements.

Key responsibilities
  • Develop new products and improve existing recipes, including reformulation projects.
  • Support pilot trials, factory trials, and scale-up activities.
  • Carry out sensory testing and product evaluation.
  • Maintain accurate project records and technical documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards and quality systems (e.g. HACCP).
  • Support food law and labelling compliance, including additives and allergens.
  • Investigate manufacturing issues and identify process improvement opportunities.
  • Assist with validation, verification, SOPs, and process documentation.
  • Work closely with production, quality, and technical teams across multiple sites.
Skills and experience
  • Degree (or equivalent) in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, or similar.
  • Experience or strong interest in food manufacturing / FMCG.
  • Good knowledge of food safety, HACCP, and quality systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Confident communicator, able to work across departments.
  • Computer literate.
  • Willing to travel between sites.
  • Full, clean driving licence required
