No working required during school holidays

Salary from : £13,890- £15,094 salary for term-time, 36 weeks pa, depending on experience (£27,008 - £29,350 Full-Time Equivalent)

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Food Technician to join our Design & Technology Team as a job share with our current Food Technician, supporting children in KS3 and KS4 who have speech and language and communication difficulties.

As well as providing support in the Food Technician Department, you will also assist in other areas of the department, and lead extra-curricular food-related clubs / activities and must be able to relate well to both staff and students.

You will play a key role in supporting teaching staff as well as ordering and preparing project materials and general resources to support the department, including the use and maintenance of tools and equipment.

The ideal candidate will have :

  • Supporting our students can sometimes be challenging, mental and physical resilience are qualities necessary for all our staff.
  • Be able to work on their own initiative as well as be a team player.
  • Have the ability to build good working relationships with children, teachers, parents and carers.
  • Have experience of working with children with Special Education Needs (SEN) (desirable).
  • Have experience of working as a Food Technician or equivalent learning support role within a Food Technology class.
  • Be able to manage groups of children and cope with challenging behaviour.
  • Essential qualifications and training include a GCSE, Relevant First Aid Certificate, Food Hygiene Certificate. A Teaching Assistant qualification would be desirable, but is not essential.
  • Be able to promote positive behaviour in a nurturing environment.
  • Be well organised with the ability to work independently, taking responsibility for managing routine safety and maintenance checks.
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills and numeracy skills.
