Join Sodexo as a Food Service Assistant at The King's School, Wrexham Road, Chester, Cheshire CH4 7QL, where you'll assist prompt and efficient delivery of lunch service, morning snacks for students and staff, ensuring dining services meet company and client standards and maintain cleanliness and hygiene in compliance with procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the service of meals and refreshments in accordance with the menu.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in all catering areas.
  • Help with the setup and clearing of dining areas.
  • Engage positively with students and staff, promoting a welcoming dining atmosphere.
  • Ensure all work areas and surfaces are clean and tidy at all times, especially at the end of shift.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and food safety standards.
  • Serve customers quickly and politely, ensuring good customer service at all times.
  • Replenish food and equipment to ensure an efficient and seamless service.
  • Clear and clean work areas after service periods.
  • Complete any administration as requested, including food temperatures, cleaning schedules, delivery temperatures, stock takes, etc.
  • Ensure the kitchen is maintained in a clean, organized manner and all food safety and health and safety policies and procedures are followed.
  • Complete all cleaning schedules to the agreed standard.
  • Promote a friendly working relationship with colleagues.
  • Undertake training and comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Raise any issues to the Head Chef or Catering Manager in a timely manner.
  • Report any incidents of accident, near miss, fire, loss, theft, damage, unfit food or any other irregularities.
  • Work at school events, as required, with occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Assist with the set up, service, clearing and cleaning of function catering as requested.
  • Carry out any reasonable request by management.
  • Assist in other local units as may be necessary in an emergency.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, handle pressure, and communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Impeccable punctuality and dependability.
  • Experience in a similar environment is a plus but not a deal‑breaker.
  • Good teamwork and a dedicated, orderly approach.
Hours & Working Pattern
  • Hours: 25 hours per week.
  • Working pattern: 5 days (09:30 – 14:30).
  • Term time: Yes!
  • Free on‑site parking, free meal on duty.
