The Team

This is an exciting, new opportunity to join an expanding team within our multi‑award‑winning firm. This role offers a high degree of variation and flexibility, working on multiple short‑term assignments across our top tier Catastrophic Personal Injury and Large Loss Teams.

Our Catastrophic Personal Injury and Large Loss team covers every aspect of a claim, including liability investigations, policy coverage assessments, and quantum assessments for all levels of Multi‑Track claims.

Our market‑leading catastrophic injury specialists are trusted around the world by general and specialist insurers corporations, and health and public sector bodies to defend their most serious and highest value cases. We handle the whole range of complex and high value claims including fatality, acquired brain injury, spinal cord damage, amputation, chronic pain, the funding of long‑term care and rehabilitation.

This role will be managing a variety of large loss case work ranging from motor, EL/PL, and indemnity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Acting on behalf of a range of insurance companies and self‑insured commercial organisations.
  • Assisting on a varied caseload of motor, EL/PL and indemnity large loss cases.
  • Carrying out investigations with live defenders, taking witness statements, reviewing and interpreting medical records and medical reports.
  • Identifying information requirements and securing required documentation/evidence from claimant representatives.
  • Adhering to reporting and reserving requirements in relation to different client SLAs.
  • File Management – including initial reports, updating reports and correspondence.
  • Attending and appearing at court, pre‑trial meetings, and adhering to court timetables.
  • Supporting the Partners in servicing existing clients, and maintaining relationships with clients using technical excellence and innovation.
  • You will be focussed on delivering a highly professional service to clients, including compliance with client SLAs and MI requirements.
  • Drafting of all legal documents and client advice.
  • Dealing with interlocutory proceedings, CMCs and client meetings.
Essential Skills and Experience
  • Ability to quickly adjust to different practice areas and case types.
  • Experience of personal injury litigation and comprehensive, varied understanding of CILL law. Enjoy being challenged by complex legal issues and expanding your knowledge.
  • Ability to quickly build rapport with new teams and clients, understanding their unique needs and working styles. Work effectively with diverse teams and contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and tasks efficiently, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Willingness to collaborate with other lawyers and staff at all levels and provide support as needed.
  • Willingness to take on a variety of tasks, working on different assignments switching between different legal matters seamlessly.
  • Proficiency in handling diverse legal matters, from litigation to transactional work, and the ability to provide competent legal advice across various domains.
  • Proficiency in both written and verbal communication to effectively interact with clients, colleagues, and court personnel.
