Job description
Position Overview

An exciting full‑time permanent role as Fleet Logistics Assistant / Driver based at the Sheffield Fleet Workshop site (Monday to Friday 07:00‑15:00). The role supports the Fleet, Estates and Facilities Team within the Yorkshire Ambulance Service Trust, assisting with transportation, movement, and care of operational and non‑operational vehicles for maintenance, repair and staffing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive a variety of vehicles across the county, including local and county‑wide tasks.
  • Perform light mechanical repairs (bulbs, wipers, tyre pressure checks, jump‑starting vehicles).
  • Assist with delivery of oils, lubricants and other items to ambulance stations.
  • Collect and deliver vehicles, vehicle parts and medical devices as required.
  • Ensure vehicles are fueled and daily checks completed on all movements.
  • Maintain cleanliness of workshop facilities, tools and equipment in line with legislation.
  • Support workshop technical staff with manual handling and lifting tasks.
  • Assist with vehicle commissioning, decommissioning, audits and reporting of accident damage.
  • Operate with minimum supervision, working flexibly across a large geographical area.
  • Comply with SOPs, controls and Trust standards.
Qualifications

  • Physical ability to carry out moderate lifting tasks.
  • Strong initiative, problem‑solving and independent work skills.
